Did you know that if you are a UK taxpayer you can Gift Aid Crawley u3a membership? The Gift Aid scheme means Crawley u3a can reclaim 25p of tax for each £1 you give to help make the u3a funds go further when providing its activities (note we are not able to claim tax relief on group fees). Making a gift aid donation does not cost the donor any extra money but you must be a UK taxpayer for each year for which you Gift Aid.
Am I eligible to Gift Aid?
To ensure that you are paying sufficient tax to cover this Gift Aid declaration, and avoid any problems with HMRC, as a rough guide, we would suggest that you should be paying at least £100 in tax each year. If you pay less than this, then please do not complete this Gift Aid declaration.
To check how much, if any, tax you are paying then look at your occupational pension monthly pay-slip (the tax deducted on this represents the tax on your occupational pension plus your state pension plus any other income you have declared in a tax return). If you do not have an occupational pension or any other taxable income in addition to your state pension you are unlikely to be a taxpayer.
How do I donate to Crawley u3a through Gift Aid?
Many members who do Gift Aid did so from when they first joined, by completing the Gift Aid section of the New Members Application Form. But provided you are eligible, you can start Gift Aiding at any time during your membership. Once you have completed and submitted the Gift Aid Declaration form we will then collect Gift Aid from your current and future membership fees until you tell us that you are no longer eligible.
To add Gift Aid to your membership download one of the forms below, complete it, sign it, and (if signed electronically) e-mail it to Jean Manuel our Membership Assistant or if it's a paper copy contact the Membership Assistant to find out the relevant postal address or to arrange collection.
Gift Aid Declaration (pdf) OR Gift Aid Declaration (Word)
If you cannot remember whether or not you completed a Gift Aid form when you first joined, you can check with the Membership Assistant.
Please note that once a Gift Aid form has been submitted, you will need to let the Secretary know of any change to your address as the HMRC need to have up-to-date details.
What do I do if I cease to be eligible?
If you no longer pay enough income or capital gains tax to cover the amount of Gift Aid, or want to cancel your declaration, you should let the Secretary know at once – do not wait until the next Membership Renewal.
