We are a friendly social group and our group has been formed for those who want to walk at a steady, moderate pace. Our walks are usually between 3 and 4 miles and take approximately two hours (brief pauses for places of interest and water breaks included). Walkers need to be able to cope with uneven ground, inclines, steps and stiles as we walk across all terrains, and walking boots are essential. In addition, all our members are encouraged to lead a walk (in pairs) and coordinate pub lunch orders at least once a year. We enjoy a good chat whilst walking and the pub lunch at the end of our walk gives us a further chance!
Round up of 2025
January – Treasure Trail East Grinstead - a great way of discovering a town on our doorstep
February – Shoreham - always a great opportunity to see the variety of houseboats moored up at Shoreham.
March – Tilgate - a leisurely amble around Tilgate Park with a well earned cuppa at the Walled Garden
April – Charlwood - first signs of the bluebells and a lovely countryside walk
May – Southbank, London - great sightseeing trip along the River Thames
June – Rusper - A wet start to this walk, with roads somewhat flooded, but once we got there we were out in the country again.
July – Pease Pottage - a great amble, across railway lines, through leafy dells, and through the edge of the Woodgate estate
August - Cooksbridge/Lewes - a train trip, then a walk through fields and country lanes until reaching the town of Lewes
September – Lancing/Shoreham - a very enjoyable seaside walk from Lancing to Shoreham
October – Outwood - a wet and blustery day's walking, so everyone was glad to get back to the pub to dry out and enjoy some hot food.
November - Brighton - a lovely walk along the Undercliff Path from Saltdean to the Marina, with the sun coming out. Tide was high and waves were crashing in so it made for some great photo opportunities.
December - a planning meeting and very enjoyable get together for lunch at our regular haunt of the Black Swan at Pease Pottage
