If you don't find a subject to your liking, or perhaps an activity is on a day that doesn't suit you, then why not start a group of your own. You don't need to be an expert or qualified in the subject, simply have an interest that you would like to share with others, anything from nuclear physics to flower arranging: it’s your decision.
Crawley u3a is always looking to expand the number of groups we offer, and there’s plenty of help available from the Trustees and other members to set up a new group.
You can decide the subject, date, time, and length for each meeting, which may be held at a private home of a member, at a hired venue, or a more relaxed type of group where you meet up at a chosen destination, perhaps for a walk or simply a chance to get together. Some of our newer groups, such as the Urban Sketching group, have a person coordinating the group and as a group they decide where they are going to meet each week. If, however, your chosen topic requires a more formal setting (perhaps you are playing board games) then you are welcome to discuss this with our Assistant Groups Co-ordinator, who liaises with all those running groups, and can arrange the hire of a venue if required, and give advice on running a group. It really is not too difficult, and you don’t have to struggle: help is available and will be gladly given.
For new group enquiries please e-mail Peter Beckley, our Assistant Groups Coordinator.
Potential New Groups
For suggested new groups that have not yet started, we primarily advertise these to our members via our Monthly Newsletter, inviting members to contact a named person if interested. From those expressions of interest we can gauge if there is sufficient interest to start up the group. When the Group starts it will appear in our Groups list. Any new ideas will also appear below.
