Please note that with immediate effect (Aug 2025) the Short Mat Bowling 1 group (that played once a month on a Monday) has now closed. However, we do still have this Short Mat Bowls group that plays every month on the 4th Wednesday, and this group is very much looking for new members, so do give the Group Leader a call or send them a message.

Short Mat Bowls is simply indoor bowls played on a short mat, using the same type of bowl. We play purely for the fun of it and no competitions are involved; it can be a very sociable pastime. All equipment is provided but you are free to use your own set of bowls if you have one. We have devices to enable bowls to be picked up without the need for bending down – very useful for those less mobile, and there is always plenty of help available. There is no dress code but it is best to wear loose and comfortable clothes and we do ask you to wear clean, flat indoor shoes.
